Simplesave

I have an old HP SimpleSave external hard drive. I bought it a long time ago. I can never use it. When I connect to my computer, I can see the hard drive, and there is a file in the hard drive, "HP Launcher", and which cannot be launched. I do not know what was wrong with it. My friend and I bought the product on the same day in Costco Canada. Anybody can suggest a solution or a telephone number I can call? Thanks in advance

Welcome to the HP English Community --

Sorry -- any support for these devices is likely at least ten years too late.

The SimpleSave software is tied to (located on) the hard drive and works only from that location.

Perhaps more important in this context -- SimpleSave software never worked beyond Windows 7.

If you can locate a Windows 7 system,  try attaching the drive to it and running the software.

What else?

Worse, in the context of retrieving the data, the software encrypted the backups created on the hard drive.

Depending on how important it is to you, you could try asking a data forensics specialist for help.
