Hi @idlacrom,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To free up space in your OneDrive account without losing photos from your computer, you can follow these steps.
Sign In to OneDrive:
- Open a web browser and go to the OneDrive website (https://www.onedrive.com/).
- Sign in with the Microsoft account associated with your OneDrive.
Review Files and Folders:
- Once logged in, you'll see all the files and folders stored in your OneDrive account. Browse through them to identify the files or folders you want to delete.
Select Files/Folders to Delete:
- Click on the checkboxes next to the files or folders you want to remove.
Delete Selected Items:
- After selecting the items, click the "Delete" button (usually a trash can icon) in the toolbar or right-click and choose "Delete."
Empty the Recycle Bin:
- Deleted items are moved to the Recycle Bin in OneDrive, allowing you to recover them if needed. To free up space permanently, go to the Recycle Bin on the left sidebar, select the items you want to permanently delete, and click the "Empty recycle bin" option.
Check Your Computer:
- Once you've deleted files from OneDrive, make sure they are not deleted from your computer as well. By default, OneDrive syncs files between your computer and the cloud, so deleting them from the cloud may remove them from your computer too. If you want to keep them on your computer, ensure they are still present in your local folders.
Monitor OneDrive Storage:
- To prevent your OneDrive from getting overfilled in the future, regularly monitor your storage usage. You may want to consider upgrading your OneDrive storage plan if you need more space.
Remember that OneDrive's synchronization may delete files from your computer if they are removed from the cloud. To avoid this, you can change your OneDrive settings to make files online-only, which keeps them in the cloud while only placeholders are stored on your computer. This way, you can access them anytime and free up space on your local drive without losing any files.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
