Hello
This is the back of my computer.
All of the six USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports works correctly but the top port on the back of the computer, which is circled. Any USB device that is plugged into it either is silently not recognized or a message pops up saying the USB device has malfunctioned. When I plug the same device into any of the other 5 USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, either on the back or on the front of the computer, there is no problem. There does not seem to be a hardware issue, such as a loose USB port.
Any suggestions? Is there a troubleshooter that can be run? (In the Device Manager I cannot identify which USB port on the list corresponds to the problem port.) The computer is under warranty but I have not paid for any support. Will HP help with the problem online?

Hi,
No direct HP support in this forum. I am a unaffiliated volunteer.
Check Device Manager in Control Panel for a USB error.
You have four USB 3.1 ports. One seems to have failed. This suggests the motherboard (MB) USB controller is working but one rear USB port has failed. A bad USB controller would cause total rear USB port failure.
This is a hardware problem with one rear port. You may have to replace the MB to fix this.
