HP Pavilion Slimline s5380a Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion Slimline dated from 2013 which has been great up to now but yesterday when i booted up it stuck half way through. I pressed f9 on the next boot up and got an error message - BIOHD-8 on the hard drive.

Any help for an 85 year old would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hi @totalpcidiot

A BIOHD error usually means a HDD is failing or has failed.

You will have to replace this drive and reinstall W10 clean since it appears the failing HDD is a system drive.

I found a DDR3 Random Access Memory (RAM) upgrade reference for your PC. This suggests your PC has been around for a while. Your PC seems to be out of mainstream HP Support.

I would suggest having a local PC Tech sort this out for you. This Tech may be able to:

-Backup data from the failing HDD

-Install a new HDD or SSD (Recommended)

-Install W10

-Restore recovered data, if this is possible, from the failing HDD to the new operating system installation.

Regards
