Hi @AxeWrld,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP laptop is experiencing a hardware issue where multiple components are not functioning properly. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem.
Troubleshooting Steps:
Restart Your Laptop:
- Sometimes a simple restart can resolve hardware glitches. If the power button isn't working, try pressing and holding it for about 10 seconds to force a shutdown, then turn it back on.
External Keyboard and Mouse:
- Connect an external keyboard and mouse to see if they work. This can help determine if the issue is with the built-in keyboard and touchpad or a more systemic problem.
Reset BIOS Settings:
- Sometimes, resetting the BIOS to default settings can resolve hardware recognition issues.
- To do this, restart your laptop and press the BIOS key (usually F2, F10, or Delete) during startup.
- Once in the BIOS menu, look for an option to reset to default settings.
Check Device Manager:
- If you can log in using an external keyboard and mouse, open Device Manager and check if there are any warning symbols (yellow exclamation marks) next to the keyboard and touchpad devices.
- You can access Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting "Device Manager."
Update or Reinstall Drivers:
- In Device Manager, right-click on the keyboard and touchpad devices, select "Update driver," and follow the prompts.
- If updating doesn’t work, you can try uninstalling the devices (right-click and select "Uninstall device") and then restart your laptop to let Windows reinstall the drivers automatically.
Hard Reset:
- Perform a hard reset by shutting down your laptop, unplugging it from the power source, and removing the battery (if possible). Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, then reconnect the battery and power and turn the laptop back on.
Check for Physical Damage:
- Inspect the keyboard and touchpad for any physical damage or debris that might be causing the issue. Sometimes, a thorough cleaning can resolve these problems.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Boot your laptop in Safe Mode to see if the keyboard and touchpad work. If they do, it might be a software conflict causing the issue.
- To boot in Safe Mode, restart your laptop and press F8 (or Shift + F8) during startup, then select Safe Mode from the menu.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
