Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I keep getting a BSOD.  PC showing yellow exclamation mark next to PCI Serial Bus & SM Bus Controller.  Using an HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Base running Windows 10 64-bit. Tried rebooting, running in safe mode, downloading suggest HP drivers, (SP84442.exe, intel active management technology, intel management engine driver, etc.)  Nothing seems to work.  Even downloaded some third party tools.  Still getting the BSOD 1-3x per day.    Please help.  Thank you.

Hi:

The SMBus controller needs the Intel Chipset Installation Utility.

The problem is that it looks like HP removed all of the chipset drivers that I used to use from the FTP server.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the chipset driver from the equivalent Dell model of the 800 G1.

I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work.

The PCI serial port is definitely installed by sp84442.exe.

The only suggestion I can offer for that would to try manually installing the driver.

To do that, go to the device manager.

Click on the PCI Serial Port needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.

Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the sp84442 driver file.

That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp84442.

Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

Not having the drivers installed for either of those devices should cause the PC to crash.

I recommend that you run the built in Windows memory diagnostic to check for a faulty memory chip.

Thank you for recommendations.  I still have a non working driver for my SM Bus Controller  also showing that Intel Active Management Technology - SOL not working.  I've seen that the solution for the SM Bus Controller is the sp87257 driver but when I click the link it's no longer there.  Is this available anywhere?  I looked everywhere  Thank you again.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, that driver file has been completely removed from HP's FTP site.

I wish I had saved it like I have with other files, but I didn't know they were going to remove it.

Last shot...see if this chipset driver works:

10.0.22
