I have been dealing with my computer issue for 3 weeks straight and I finally brokedown in tears and have been crying since yesterday. PLEASE if anyone out there can help me I will be very grateful.
I mistakenly erased my entire harddrive...partitions and all and installed a version of windows (Win7 Ultimate 64bit) that did not come with my computer. WIndows 7 installed but that was all...no drivers, no ability to get online etc. I ordered a rescue kit for my specific computer, model and build etc. I received 4 discs. The problem is that it doesn't recognize the version of windows that I am using and says that rescue disk is not compatible with the version of windows I am using. I got it to boot from the DVD in Bios but it doesn't recognize the rescue disk as being authentic.
At this point, I figured I would start with trying to install a version of windows that is the same as what originally came with the computer but there is no information on HP about it. It just says that it came with Windows 7 but not what version. What is Home Edition? Which home edition?
2 QUESTIONS:
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT VERSION OF WINDOWS THE HP Pavillion Slimeline S5-1070t originally shipped with by default?
ANY HELP OR IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU!

Hi:
Somewhere on the PC's case there should be a Windows 7 Certificate of Authenticity (COA) label and it will have the 25 character product key, and the version of Windows it is. Something like this...
For example: This one is for W7 Professional. The 25 character product key is blanked out in the illustration.
Once you find the sticker and you let me know what version of W7 it is...Do NOT post the product key characters..., I can give you the instructions to make a plain W7 installation DVD and then you can install W7 using the key on the label and install the drivers and software from your PC's support page.
I will help you with the drivers you need to get the PC connected to the internet, etc.

You are such an angel Paul. Thank you...I already figured it out the hard way. I wish I had remembered to come on here 1st. It would have saved me a lot of stress.
Thanks again Paul. I will make this forum my 1st stop next time!
