HP Pavilion 23-g010 All-in-One Desktop PC (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Bios AMI 80.07. 3/17/2014

Has anyone been able to install Win10 or 11 on this model?

So far, I've experienced the following:

Upgrading with the iso file:   Windows 10 2022 Update | Version 22H2 from Microsoft

Upgrade fails and shuts down near the end with this message on reboot:

Windaws 10 Setup
We couldn't install Windows 10
We've set your PC back to the way it was right before you started installing Windows 10.
DxC1900101 - 0x2000C The installation failed in the SAFE_ OS phase with an error during APPLY_ IMAGE operation

I've also noticed that the Win8.1 will not connect for updates.

Hi @Forceinflorida

Have you considered trying a clean W10 install after backing up data? Your PC dates back to 2014,

W8.1 cannot get Windows updates. That is usually not a good sign. You have to fix the W8.1 update issue or do a clean installation.

Can't find DxC1900101 - 0x2000C  but 0xC1900101 - 0x2000c shows the following issues:

Search the web for suggestions to fix the W8.1 update problem before you try an operating system upgrade. You have some OS system file corruption at the minimum.

Check this Site for possible problems preventing a W10 update. This problem is a tough one to solve.

Thank you for supporting my thoughts about doing a clean install. I'm going to do that next. Correct me if I'm wrong, I understand that the Windows key stored in the BIOS will work with the fresh install. I also have it in print should I need to enter it manually. I'll post my results here.

Hi @Forceinflorida

My pleasure.

The Windows product key should be in the BIOS.

Select "I don't have a product key" when doing a clean install.

Windows (post installation) should activate when the PC is connected to the network.

Hi @Forceinflorida

HP has W10 drivers for your PC at this Site.

But you do have a Windows 8.1 Update problem preventing the upgrade from W8.1 to W10.

Hi Bill_To,

Thank you for your continued support.

I'll report back here how things work out with a fresh install.

I'll be using the latest ISO download from Microsoft that I have on a bootable USB stick that I made with Rufus.
