So, I'm updated to the most current Windows 10....

Also, I think I have the newest NVIDIA drivers.

However, my 8300 won't go past the blue HP startup screen when I try to start up with a GTX 1050ti installed.

Starts up fine otherwise with the default card (forgot what it is, but it's NVIDIA.

Any help appreciated!

thanks,

Andrew

What is your machine actually ? I don't think HP as any product called XPS 8300 . It is a Dell machine. How can it go past the blue HP startup screen

Regards.

Did you mean: HP Compaq Elite 8300 - Core i5 3570S 3.1 GHz - 8 GB - 320 GB -- Part Number: D0K51US#ABA

See: https://www.cnet.com/products/hp-compaq-elite-8300-core-i5-3570s-3-1-ghz-monitor-none-series/specs/

Your computer has an external power adapter.  It may not provide enough wattage for your "high-end" graphics card.

Also, the motherboard may not supply enough power to the PCI-E slot for your graphics card.

Have you connected both the 6-pin and the 8-pin (or 6+2) leads from the power-supply into your graphics card?

If the graphics card is NOT getting enough power, that could cause your symptoms.

See: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/geforce-gtx-1050/

Thermal and Power Specs:

    91 C -- Maximum GPU Temperature
250 W -- Graphics Card Power
 600 W -- Recommended System Power
Supplementary Power Connectors -- One 6-pin, One 8-pin

POWER SUPPLY

Must select one of the following options:
  • 300W
  • 460W
  • 600W

So, what is the wattage of your computer's power-supply?

As I previously wrote, the graphics card recommends 600W.

Thanks - I believe it's the 300W supply.

However, this is the new version of the card, and draws 75W; there are no power connectors:
