Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

New HP Pavilion with bad fan motor being returned to store for refund/exchange. Chose factory reset and now it’s trying to do the initial auto reboot.  But it has been stopped at 47% for about 30 minutes. The loading icon is still spinning but no progress.

This thing was only used about a week with very little account activity, customization or program/app loading. How long should it be taking? Is it time to cut the power and try again? Could doing so prevent the reset from erasing the personal info that was entered before the reset?

Hi,

Not being able to do a factory reset suggests you may have a storage device problem in addition to a fan problem.

Try a reset again. Or you can wipe the drive.

Search the net for free disk wiping software.
