My computer is a desk top windows 10 HP. It was hacked into a few weeks ago remotely and the settings on my power and sleep options had been changed to never so now my computer doesn't hibernate, sleep or power down when not in use. So I'm wondering now what is the recommended default settings that I need to select so i can remedy this problem and how do i do that.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

Your computer's case has a power button that can be pressed to shut down or put the computer into sleep mode. Windows 10 helps you control how the computer behaves after the power button on the computer is pressed. The function of the power button can be changed to Do nothingSleepHibernate, or Shut down.

To change what the computer does when you press the power and sleep buttons, do the following:

  1. In Windows, search for and open Power Options.

  2. In the left pane, click Choose what the power buttons do.

Power Options with Change what the power buttons do highlighted

  3. To change settings for the power button, click the drop-down arrow next to When I press the power button, select the setting you want to use, then click Save changes.

Power button options drop-down menu displayed

  4. To change the sleep settings, click the drop-down arrow next to When I press the sleep button, select the setting you want to use, then click Save changes.

Sleep button options drop-down menu displayed

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
