Hi @A87-_,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing on your HP Victus Gaming Laptop, where the power button blinks and the screen remains black, could be due to a range of issues, such as firmware problems, hardware failure, or misconfiguration in the boot settings. Here's how you can troubleshoot it.

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off the laptop completely by holding the power button for 10-15 seconds until all lights go off.
  2. Disconnect the power adapter and any external devices (e.g., USB drives, peripherals).
  3. If possible, remove the battery (if it's removable). For built-in batteries, skip this step.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  5. Reconnect the power adapter and try to power on the laptop.

Check the Power Button Blink Codes

  • HP laptops use specific blinking light patterns to indicate errors (e.g., hardware, memory, or processor issues).
  • Count the number of blinks in a sequence and note if the blinking is continuous or follows a pattern.
  • Compare the blink code to HP's troubleshooting documentation for your model.

Reset BIOS (CMOS)

  1. Turn off the laptop and disconnect it from power.
  2. Look for a small pinhole labeled "CMOS" or "Reset" on the back or underside of the laptop.
  3. Use a paperclip to press and hold the button for 10-15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect power and turn on the laptop.

Attempt to Enter BIOS or Recovery Mode

  1. Turn off the laptop and then power it on while repeatedly pressing Esc, F2, or F10 to enter the BIOS menu.
  2. If successful, check boot settings, ensuring the correct boot drive is selected.
  3. Save changes and restart.

If the BIOS loads but Windows doesn't boot:

  • Press F11 repeatedly during startup to open HP Recovery Manager and attempt a system repair.

Reinstall Windows (If BIOS is Accessible)

If the laptop can access BIOS but cannot boot into Windows:

  1. Create a bootable Windows USB drive using another computer.
  2. Insert the USB into the laptop and boot from it by selecting the USB drive in the boot menu (accessed via F9 during startup).
  3. Perform a Windows repair or reinstall.

Test Hardware Components

  1. RAM Check: Reseat or swap RAM sticks if you have multiple. Remove one stick at a time to see if the issue resolves.
  2. SSD Check: If you can enter BIOS, check if the SSD is detected under the storage settings. A missing drive could indicate a problem with the SSD or its connection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
