@Bvipl, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like your laptop might have encountered an issue after a BIOS update, where it's not powering on even though the battery is charging and the power light is working. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:
Perform a power drain:
- Disconnect the laptop from any power source (unplug the charger and remove any external devices).
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.
- After releasing the power button, plug the charger back in and try turning the laptop on again.
Check for BIOS Recovery:
Some HP laptops have a built-in BIOS recovery feature. Here's how to use it:
- Disconnect the laptop from the charger.
- Hold down the Windows + B keys together, and then press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds.
- Release the power button but keep holding the Windows + B keys until you see the BIOS recovery screen.
If you can access BIOS recovery, follow the on-screen instructions to attempt a recovery.
Reset the CMOS:
If the above steps don’t work, resetting the CMOS battery can help. HP PCs - Reset the CMOS | HP® Support

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
