I have two power supplies from a HP server - ProliantML310. I want to use them to power the 12 volt lights on a model railroad. I can not get the supplies to turn on. Are they software interlocked to the server software? If so, can an input be forced on to make the power supplies usable? these are very good units with great voltage stability.. It is a shame to throw them away. can any one help?

BING sometimes is not your enemy:
https://www.bing.com/search?q=atx+power+supply+pinout+turn+on
gives lots of good advice on how to power-on your stand-alone ATX power-supply.
One of the replies states:
When you do, this make sure that you have some device(s) connected to the PSU.
Otherwise, your PSU tries to drive the non-existing device, and will overheat.
something which I think is important.
Before you start, connect a power-lead to an old CD-ROM device.
Press the Open/Close button -- if the tray opens, it is getting power.

@Happyap, welcome to the forum.
I am not familiar with the PSU's, but I do know that many PSU's won't power on unless they are under load; connected to a component, such as, a fan. I don't know if this is your problem, however.
