I turned my laptop on and the 'Preparing Automatic Repair' message came onto the screen and is stuck at this phase.
I have taken the battery out, put it back in, attempted the various solutions that ask me to press F8 before it gets back to this screen but all with no success and it is once again stuck on this screen.
It now says Hard Drive Short DST Check Failed and should contact HP Support so here I am.
What else can I do to solve this problem please?

Hi @Doctor-Who
A short DST fail sounds like you have a faulty system drive (HDD or SSD).
You may have to disassemble the Laptop to replace the drive. Or have HP do this if in warranty. Or have a local PC Tech do this.
Data on the failing drive may be recoverable by connecting this drive to a different PC as a data drive.
