Hi all,

I am trying to update my processor from i3 to i7-870 , but unfortunately after changing the processor to i7-870 , the CPU only blinking red light about 6 times. I already take out the ram and also CMOS battery and then put it back , but the result still the same. My system summary as with the ticket.

Thank you

Hi:

If your PC does not have a PCIe x16 graphics card installed, that is the reason for your dilemma.

The 1st Generation Intel Quad Core processors must have a graphics card installed in order for the PC to work.

That is because they do not support the onboard Intel graphics like the 1st Generation dual core processors so, such as your PC's original i3.

Since you have a SFF PC, you need to install a low-profile graphics card that comes with the low profile brackets that also works with your PCs 240W power supply.

If you just want your PC to work and don't care about installing the best GPU your PC can handle, buy a used but tested and working Nvidia GT730 low profile card that comes with the low-profile mounting brackets.

They are cheap and provide adequate graphics performance--better than the onboard Intel graphics.

Something like this:
