Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Envy 700-330qe

Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3601 MHz, 4 cores

My system check said this processor is not compatible with Win 11.

Can my motherboard be upgraded to a newer/Win 11 compatible CPU?

@nalla1,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Unfortunately, your PC cannot be upgraded with a Windows 11 Microsoft approved processor.

However, that shouldn't prevent you from upgrading to W11 using the steps outlined in this link: https://dongknows.com/steps-for-windows-11-upgrade-on-unsupported-hardware/.

All of my legacy HP desktop PCs -except one laptop, have been upgraded to W11 using the aforementioned method and have been working wonderfully. No complaints whatsoever.  I would highly recommend it.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

Thank you!  It looks simple to do, and will save $$$ on a new system.
