Good morning,
my computer's hard drive has broken and I need to replace it.
I don't have the Windows 7 license number and I can't get it back with NeoSmart. How can I do?
Thank you.

Did you look at the link I posted? If you use that link embedded in the posted page, I think it will activate without needing the key.

Typically, if the PC came with Windows 7, there is a sticker somewhere on the case with the Windows 7 license number. If you have the Recovery media, I think that is not needed, however. If you do not have the Recovery media, have a look here for the HP Cloud Recovery
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/caps-softpaq/CloudRecovery/crsupportedplatform.html
If that does not solve the problem, please explain the method you are attempting.

I bought the computer with Windows 7 pre-installed. I do not have Recovery discs and there is no Windows license label on my computer. I know it's written in Bios but I don't know how to read it.
Is this solution possible ? --> download windows 7 and install it then I read the code with NeoSmart?

Hi, @PaoloM67
What generation Prodesk 400 do you have (G1, G2, G3, G4)?
You are correct...there is no W7 product key label, because your PC came with downgrade rights to W7 Pro from W8.1 Pro or W10 Pro (depending on model generation).
The W8.1/W10 Pro product key in your PC's BIOS is absolutely useless when you need to reinstall W7, since you must have a HP W7 Pro recovery image which is preactivated.
So...once you let me know what generation Prodesk 400 you have, we can proceed from there.
If you have one of the models supported by the Cloud recovery client, you can make the HP W7 recovery media that TheOldMan referenced.

You're very welcome.
Since the cloud recovery client software is on your PC's support page that should work.
You should be give the option to create W10 pro or W7 pro installation media.
You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive in order to create the installation media.
You will not need a product key for the HP cloud recovery installation media.
