@Dxd71

You need to explain HOW you purchased an "official OEM version" of Windows -- as HP does not make them available for sale!

If you bought this over the Internet, I would not be surprised if it was NOT an actual OEM version, but instead, something known as the "system builders" version -- which is very different from the "official" HP OEM version.

And the difference is ... the system builders version is NOT going to accept the OEM product key printed on the sticker on your PC.

You can find out the ACTUAL version of the Windows you purchased by doing the following:

1) Insert the USB or DVD into your PC -- note the drive letter that is assigned (let's call this "F" for the sake of discussion)

2) open the F: drive and look into the Sources folder.  There you will find either an install.esd or install. wim filr

3) Open a command windows with Admin rights, and enter the following command: dism /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:F:\sources\install.xxx       where xxx = wim or esd

4) This will list the Windows images contained on the media.  Find the index number of the version you want to install -- let's call that "1" for the sake of discussion

5) Enter the command again:  /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:F:\sources\install.xxx /index:n    where n=index number

This will provide you detailed information on the Windows image and you will see whether or not it is actually OEM
