The question mark (?) remains on the taskbar, even though I have clicked it and found no messages, no up-dates, no new tests to run, etc. Usually the circle contains the HP capital letters. When the question mark is seen and I click on it I find something. If it does not turn off how do I know that I have not been sent a message etc. I do not want to permanently turn it off, just get the question mark gone and the HP capital letter back.

Thank You!

@commphotographe Welcome to HP Forums Community!

Could you share a screenshot or an image of the question mark you are referring to, so I know exactly what you mean and I could help resolve the issue accordingly?

Also, if you are referring to HP Support assistant, did you try right-clicking on it, select toolbars and uncheck the HP Support Assistant? As that should turn it off, however, a restart of your computer may get it back on, so let me know once you try it, and if it's not the same thing you were talking about, please let me know.

Keep us posted,
