Hello so ive had this Omen Prebuilt Pc for about 2 years now but it recently started to shut off on me with no warning. I already checked the pc temps and they are within normal or reasonable temps and i even make sure to blow out the internals and check for dust clogs but those dont help. I could be doing anything even just watching youtube or even just laying in bed not using it and it'll just turn off for no reason without warning. Has anyone else had this issue and if so what did you do to fix it??

To clarify; your PC is not shutting down and immediately restarting. Is this correct?

 

Your PC's behavior looks like an intermittent hardware problem. Intermittent problems are difficult to diagnose.

 

This symptom could be caused by a number of other things in addition to a thermal problem:

 

- Power cable (try a different cable)

- Have you checked the AC power outlet and the surge protector?

- Power button

- Power supply

- Any peripheral or component connected to the MB (including the MB).

 

Can you immediately power on the PC and run Windows after a shutdown? Or do you have to disconnect/reconnect the power supply from AC power to start the PC? Disconnecting the power supply from AC power could indicate a bad power supply or an intermittent short in the system.

 

Try running the PC for a good period of time with only a mouse, keyboard, and monitor. You could also try all available USB ports as you continue to troubleshoot.

 

The only way to check the power button is to disconnect the front panel power cable from the two pin MB power button header.

 

Start the PC using a screwdriver to short the MB power pins. Run the PC sans the power button/MB connection to see how it goes.

 

Same symptom at this point requires replacing each component, one at a time, until the symptom stops.

 

I usually suggest having a local PC Tech take a look since most PC owners don't have every replacement component needed to find the bad part.

Hello so it doesnt immediately restart after shutoff but it does allow me to turn it back on and it boots normally.

Thank you for the additional info.

 

Not immediately restarting after a shutdown should eliminate a Windows problem.

 

You'll have run through the relevant hardware troubleshooting tips provided in my first response.

 

The power cable and AC power source are probably okay if you have no problems powering the PC on after a shutdown.
