just ran into the same situation with a 6300 however:
I was installing Windows-7 from my HP Supplied Restore Disks (3).
Once I reached a point where I was downloading MS Updates from the Web, one of the Downloads killed USB Support.
My Keyboard and Mouse are USB so I was unable to communicate with the O/S.
I found a PS2 Mouse and was at least able to view the Device Manager to see that Extensables were Flagger (!).
I am at a standstill now but was told it most likely was due to a dated BIOS.
I am unsure what to do other than order a PS2 Keyboards from the WEB.
Until I receive it, any insite would be appreciated.
Is it Bios related or is it an Intel Driver issue.
It does seem like it's not an isolated issue and could be the result of a bad 'something' that's downloaded from MS.
Best regards,
Mike Lynch

Paul,
I am so confused.
Can you please help me sort this out!
I am Attaching two items: the current Device Manager and my attempt to Upgrade thru Device Manager.
Please not that the Upgrade reports that the 'best driver' is installed.
Without any USB, the System is almost unusable.
The Current BIOS reports 3.07.
Best regards,
Mike Lynch

I have no idea on how to proceed.
The BIOS reports 3.07.
If it's not a BIOS issue, could a re-install with a non-HP install Disk work?
I used the HP Disks (3), that I paid HP for to get this far, Windows-7 Pro.
I own a Disk(1) from Microsoft for Windows-7 Pro.
I own a Disk(1) from Dell for Windows-7 Pro,
If you can, please help.

Hi:
The only suggestion I can offer, would be to right click on the Intel USB 3 device, select Uninstall, check the uninstall driver box, restart the PC and see if W7 can sort out the conflict.
I would also use the Intel USB3 driver directly from Intel, which seems to be a better option than the HP version.
Download, unzip and run the setup application.
