HP 8300 Mini Desktop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Followed the Forums directions for (Solved) solution for updating the Bios with no luck.

I download the required initial Bios and try to execute it however; it will not run.

My 8300 is at Bios level Version 2.90.

Advice or suggestions are appreciated.

I see what you mean.

When you ran the file, the file unpacks to C:\SWSetup\sp73099.

Open the folder and there will be a BIOS Flash HTML info file.

That's the info page you can click on and see the instructions and link to the 'View Contents of DOS flash folder, under the Startup Menu / F10 Setup BIOS Flashing section of the webpage.

What form factor is your 8300 Elite desktop PC?

There is no such form factor as mini.

You either have a USDT, SFF, MT or CMT.

USDT.

Here is the best way to update the BIOS since you are running W10 and should not use the Windows based flash method.

Use the F10 BIOS setup flash method to update the BIOS.

Using that method, you will not be in Windows to update the BIOS.

It is very easy to do.

You first have to update the BIOS from v2.90 to v2.99

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp73001-73500/sp73099.exe

When you run the v2.99 sp73099.exe, an info page should open.

You want to follow the instructions under the F10 Setup BIOS flash method.

Get a USB flash drive.

Format it with the FAT32 file system.

At the bottom of the F10 Setup BIOS flash section on that info page, you will see a link to click on labeled 'View Contents of DOS Flash Folder.

Open that folder and copy the file contents of the folder to your USB flash drive.

Just the files, not the folder.

Restart the PC.

Press/Tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the F10 Setup option.

Select the File tab>Flash System ROM command.

Select the USB flash drive.

The PC should 'see' the BIOS files on the flash drive.

Follow the onscreen instructions to update the BIOS.

Then do the same thing when you run sp95971, which is the latest version 3.08.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp95501-96000/sp95971.exe

Format the USB flash drive again with the FAT32 file system to remove the older BIOS files before running the newer BIOS update.

I follow your instructions however, at:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp73001-73500/sp73099.exe

A file is downloaded successfully but I cannot execute it.

There is also no reference to an INFO PAGE?
