Hi @duckster96,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the Realtek audio driver on your HP Pavilion AiO PC 27 has been removed or corrupted, which is causing the audio to stop working. Here's how you can resolve the issue.
Verify Device Manager Settings
- Open Device Manager:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Check for Audio Devices:
- Look under Sound, video, and game controllers for "Realtek Audio" or similar.
- If it's missing, or if you see a yellow exclamation mark, the driver is likely uninstalled or malfunctioning.
Reinstall the Realtek Audio Driver
- Download the Driver from HP Support:
- Visit the HP Support website.
- Enter your PC's model number (e.g., HP Pavilion AiO PC 27) in the search bar.
- Go to Drivers and download the latest Realtek audio driver for your operating system.
- Install the Driver:
- Double-click the downloaded file and follow the installation steps.
- Restart your PC after installation.
Use Windows Update
- Update Drivers via Windows Update:
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for updates and install any related to audio drivers.
- Use Optional Updates:
- Under Windows Update, click Advanced options > Optional updates.
- Look for Realtek audio driver updates and install them.
Reinstall Audio via Windows Troubleshooter
- Run the Audio Troubleshooter:
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to System > Sound.
- Scroll down and click Troubleshoot under Output.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Reinstall Default Drivers:
- In Device Manager, right-click any audio device > Uninstall device.
- Restart your PC to let Windows reinstall default drivers.

Check Audio Services
- Restart Windows Audio Services:
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Look for Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.
- Right-click each and select Restart.
Verify BIOS Settings (if applicable)
If the above steps don’t work, ensure that onboard audio is enabled in your BIOS:
- Restart your PC and press the appropriate key (e.g., F10, ESC) to enter the BIOS.
- Navigate to Advanced > Device Configuration or similar.
- Ensure Audio is enabled.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
