HP Laptop PC 15s-fq2000 (2D118AV)

After only 3 months of owning, the HP laptop's battery died, would not charge.  Starting getting CMOS 502 error message - no help from HP to assist in what this is or how to fix.  Laptop works fine plugged into electrical outlet.

In which country do you reside?

Our not knowing that does make things less simple.

You stated three months.

If you purchased it new, the notebook should still be within the one year free factory warranty.

If purchased secondhand there is no warranty.

CMOS 502 Error means that the checksum is not valid, which translates to a corrupt BIOS.

More information on the error.

When you boot up your notebook, hold and keep holding down the Windows key and the B key down at the same time.

Hold them down for up to a minute to see if the BIOS responds with a BIOS recovering message, at which point you can release the keys and wait while the BIOS is being restored.

From your description, there is either a main batter which no longer is serviceable of a failed component or short in the battery charging circuit.

Your laptop will continue to have issues as long as there is not a working and charging battery present to provide current to the BIOS chip which needs it to hold the settings, such as date and time and many more.

That "no it was purchased new only in 2021" is not what the title of your thread says.

Your laptop is out of warranty in that case.

I described how to attempt to recover the BIOS in my previous post.

Follow the description I gave of the process.
