OMEN 25L Desktop - GT12-022qd CTO

Greetings, all.  After having to do a fresh install of Widows 11, apparently due to some jacked driver(s), I am STILL getting poeriodic blue screen failures!  But they are varied:

DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE

ATTEMPTED WRITE TO READ-ONLY MEMORY

SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED

MEMORY MANAGEMENT

BAD POOL CALLER

KERNEL SECURITY CHECK FAILURE

FLT MGR.SYS

I did install Driver Booster to ensure my drivers are up-to date.  Any clue what might be the culprit?

Greetings @RudySchneider

Welcome to the HP Forum.

I am surprised you were able to install Windows. Faulty hardware normally causes installation problems.

Varied blue screen errors usually point to a memory problem or an operating system drive problem.

Check your PC's hardware using HP Diagnostics as follows:

Start the PC. Repeatedly tap the "ESC" key.

Select "F2". Run system and component tests to confirm: a drive problem, a memory problem, or other component problem. Run extensive tests.

Let the Forum know how it goes.

I am not familiar with Driver Booster.

So now I'm suspecting a memory controller issue, because the memory test ends up failing, but it's not coinsistent.  I ran it 5 times, and it faulted DIMM1, then DIMM2, DIMM3, DIMM3, and DIMM3.

Did you do any memory upgrades? I would try only HP factory memory. Or try one stick of RAM, one at a time, in each memory slot.

It could be a wonky memory controller. A failed memory controller usually results in fans spinning at high speeds and no POST.

You might need one stick of, known good RAM, and a known good CPU to see what's happening.

Nope.  This is the original 3-year old Omen 25L configuration.  Four 8GB sticks.  Haven't made any changes.  The errant behavior just seemed to occur more frequently over the past few months, and the only time I've heard the fans rev is when I occasionally do some compute-intensive work.  I can't see the point of essentially swapping memory sticks, since the diagnostics don't pinpoint one location.  And I'm guessing if the memory controller is (going more) wonky, my only option will be to replace the Mboard.

Sounds good to me, your choice.

The memory controller is in the CPU. But you could also have a MB problem.

Excuse me, I meant replace the CPU.

No problemo.

Didn't want to see you buy a new MB only to find the CPU is cooked.

Well, that's a fine how-do-ya-do!  So, after running for a relatively long time, my computer got back to its old tricks.  Running Extensive Tests still faulted RAM, but never the same DIMM!  Sometimes, #1, sometimes #3, etc.  So, I decided to bite the bullet and replace the CPU (ack!@  $$$).  With renewed confidence, I started the Extensive Tests again, only to have the same results!  It's annoying, because sometimes the computer will run for hours with no problem, and then back to the flurry of errors:

CRITICAL PROCESS DIES

CACHE MANAGER

FAULTY HARDWARE CORRUPTED PAGE

MEMORY MANAGEMENT

HELP!  What now1????

Oh, and I should say that I've tried swapping DIMM chips, and even running off of one rather than 4.  Same-o, same-o.
