I have 2 identical machines. Mine completely crashed. I was able to get a Windows 10 ISO disk and can get it to install. The issue is I've been on HPs site and it listed all my drivers but I still have some that are missing and can't download these either due to my software being incompatible or something else.  The big issue is besides the drivers, I can't get some programs to work and it won't find my 2nd monitor.  I have downloaded a Windows 11 iso but it fails to load with windows 10 or without it on my machine.  I did a recovery from the other machine but it won't install on mine (probably because it's looking for the same serial number). I still have the recovery partion on my machine but when I try to access it through recovery it fails every time.  I'm looking for some assistance as I've tried everything over the last 3 days with no success.  Thank you.

You can use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reset the drive to its 'out of the box' condition.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for this.

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

If you have to use the software on another PC, you will need to enter your PC's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed.

I have tried downloading  that file 3 times and I keep getting this error:

I've downloaded the latest version of Edge, Chrome and Firefox amking them the defaults in between tries.  It still gives me the same error message.  This is why I was hoping there was another way to get to the recovery files on my drive.  If I open it, it shows 2 files. If I go to open the 1 folder there is nothing in it,  but when I look at the size it shows a ton of data.

Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas for you to try other than finding a PC with W10 or W11 on it to create the recovery media using the cloud recovery tool.

@Troyr30,

I had a somewhat related issue I wrestled with.  Here is a modified approach based on what you and our Senior HP Community Expert @Paul_Tikkanen discussed. Trust me: I understand your frustration perfectly -recovery issues like this can be very tricky indeed!

Anyways, without further ado, you actually have several options beyond repeatedly retrying the Cloud Recovery Tool from your problem PC.

1. As @Paul_Tikkanen mentioned, use Another PC to Create the Recovery Media:

  • The easiest reliable approach is to use a different working Windows 10 or 11 PC to run the HP Cloud Recovery Tool.

  • Enter your product number (9ED95AA#ABA) in the tool. It will create a bootable USB drive that restores your PC to “out of the box” condition.

  • Sometimes firewalls, antivirus, or browser issues block the download. So, try:

    • Running the Microsoft Store app "as Administrator".

    • Temporarily disabling antivirus/firewall.

    • Using a fresh Windows 10/11 installation on another PC for the download.

2. Check the Recovery Partition Manually:

  • Your HP likely has a hidden recovery partition (often HP_RECOVERY).

  • Use Disk Management or a tool like MiniTool Partition Wizard to see if it’s intact.

  • Inside, look for .wim or .swm files (usually in Sources or Recovery).

  • You can mount .wim images on another PC via DISM and copy needed drivers or files without fully restoring.

3. Restore Drivers Using HP Image Assistant:

  • Download the HP Image Assistant (HPIA).

  • It will scan your system and identify missing or outdated drivers.

  • You can then download and install drivers individually, which may solve issues like your second monitor not being recognized.

4. Clean Windows Installation:

  • If recovery remains impossible, a fresh Windows install is a solid solution:

    1. Use the Microsoft Media Creation Tool to make a bootable USB.

    2. Install Windows 10 or 11 from scratch.

    3. Download all HP drivers for your model from the support site.

    4. Restore programs and files from backups.

  • This avoids recovery partition issues entirely and usually fixes driver/software problems.

Summary:

  • Ideally, create a recovery USB on another PC.

  • If not, either manually extract the recovery partition files or do a clean Windows install + HP drivers.

  • Using HP Image Assistant can also help restore missing drivers without a full reinstall.

This gives you several paths forward -you don’t need to be stuck!

Kind Regards,
