Suffered a hard disk failure. It wouldn't boot from HDD at all and on running HP diagnostics it seemed a mechanical failure so I opted for a replacement.
New HDD installed and tried to boot from a River USB from HP. I receive and error saying "Recovery failed
On expanding the Details it states:
"Component: Windows 10 PIN Diagnostics Tool ReD - CPS
Timing: FactoryUpdate
Error: Incorrect brand name
Next Step: Please check Model Name or Feature Byte"
What is this trying to tell me? What component is incorrect here? Is it because I have changed the HDD? Or is the recovery disk incorrect?

Hi:
Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you get the recovery media to work.
If the hard drive was the same storage capacity as the original one, then it probably wouldn't be due to the hard drive replacement.
Here is a way you can reinstall W10 for free so at least you can get your PC up and running again.
Use another Windows PC running W7 64 bit or newer and make a bootable W10 installation flash drive using the media creation tool from the link below.
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.
