HP Pavillion slimline S5660uk Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

I'm wanting to sell my old PC due to getting a new one recently. However at some point in the past, I hastily deleted the partition containing the original Windows 7 files and all of the HP bloatware that came with it. When booting up the machine, it now tries to install Windows 10.

My question is, is there anyway to get this PC back to factory settings with Windows 7 install files and HP bloatware back on or am I best just selling it as it is?

Thanks

Upgrading a Win7 PC to Win10 is known to corrupt the HP Recovery information, so doing a factory reset now most probably is not going to work.

Also, HP no longer stocks most of the Win7 Recovery Media, so you are not going to be able to order it from HP.

You can try this alternate source to see if they have it:  http://www.computersurgeons.com/
If they don't have it, this is another approach:  An alternative site for the Windows ISO files is: https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/67-microsoft-windows-iso-download-tool
Download the Windows ISO Downloader.exe file and run it.
When the window opens, select the Windows tab in the upper-right and then click the Windows 7 radio button.
Under Select edition, choose the Windows 7 SP1 OEM Home or Pro -- to match what you have.
That will download an ISO file of the same OEM edition that HP uses.
You can then use the free RUFUS tool to create a DVD or USB stick from that ISO file and then use that to install Win7 OEM.

Hi,

I checked the links you provided and yes, the recovery media for this model can no longer be found via HP or the first link you gave me. The second link I looked at but decided against it as I ideally wanted to have the machine factory ready with all the bloatware not just Windows 7 on it's own. So I'm just going to sell it as it is. Whoever buys it, can go through the Windows 10 installation process or just dismantle it for parts.

Thank you for the response and help anyway. Much appreciated.
