Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

About every 2 weeks, I get a desktop notice to download and update my AMD drivers. When attempted, it finds no AMD devices to update and provides the following error. Having an Intel Graphics card and not AMD anything, how do I stop this download message? While my successes have been around 1% using forums, since HP only provides this source for support, I will try again.....

Open control panel and open programs,

Under programs uninstall the AMD drivers.

Then, download the AMD Cleanup Utility using this link: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601#faq-Using-AMD-Cleanup-Utility

Restart the computer.

Keep me posted.

Have a great day!

Welcome to the HP Support Community

Could you please let me know from where are you getting the prompt to update the driver?

What is the exact model name or the product number of the product?

Is it HPSA, Windows updates are somewhere else.

Keep me posted.

Have a great day!

Cheers:)

The message pops up on my Windows 10 desktop as a window. I presume  it comes through the system task tray? Sorry, not understanding how these messages are displayed on the desktop, that is all I can tell you.

install AMD driver:

1) Download the correct AMD Full Set of drivers from AMD Support. Make sure your Windows is fully updated via Windows Update. Windows Must be fully updated because the latest AMD Drivers requires all the latest "Optional" and "Recommended" updates to be installed.

2) Use Windows Uninstall to uninstall current AMD driver and software and disconnect the internet from your computer. Then use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) from Wagnardsoft  Forum in Safe Mode. This will eliminate all traces of the AMD driver and software from your computer.

Delete C: \ AMD folder from the Root Directory. Reboot

3) Go to Device Manager and click "Display Adapter" and make sure you are on the MS Basic Display Adapter. If not, uninstall the AMD driver using Properties.

4) Try reinstalling the AMD FULL SET OF DRIVERS that you have downloaded manually. Make sure you disable the Internet to prevent Windows from installing a newer version. So configure windows to prevent it from updating drivers via windows update. So it has been mentioned to disable any anti-virus programs before installing AMD Drivers.

5) If the new AMD drivers installs and works correctly, delete again the C: \ AMD folder from the root directory. To save space on the HDD.

6) Enable both the Internet and Anti-Virus program (if applicable).

7) Go back to Device Manager and check your GPU card driver is working and identified correctly.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Why would I want to reinstall AMD drivers, when the very problem was I was constantly getting messages to install them, but when I did, it advised there was noting on my laptop that used them? Since obviously I do not have any AMD drivers, nor any AMD hardware, I just wanted to get rid of it downloading AMD drivers and then providing a message to install them, where again it advises there is no hardware that uses them.

What am I missing here???

Raj1788,

Ok, did find an AMD driver manager under the Control Panel programs and uninstalled it which advised drivers were uninstalled also. Downloaded the AMD Cleaner and ran it. Mistakenly, I clicked the box to switch to Safe Mode, and having downloaded the Cleaner to my Network Drive, with the safe mode not connecting to either the network or internet, I was unable to access the downloaded Cleaner to run it or download it again to my local drive.

Anyway, figured no problem as I would reboot into the bootup menu which gives access to the BIOS along with options to boot into Windows "Normal" mode. Tried every "F" key and found the menu, but of course found Microsoft in their continuing wisdom, must have removed the "Normal" reboot option from the boot up menu.

Had to wait until this morning to call a friend to find out how to boot into normal mode. Apparently MS moved this option to the msconfig program, where you just unclick the "Safe Mode" box under the boot tab. I guess Microsoft doesn't give a **bleep** about old time Windows users, just randomly moving critical actions around without caring that users will no longer be able to find them.

Anyway, every thing seems to be working ok, the cleaner finished ok, and the AMD Driver Manager uninstalled. Won't know though, if it all worked, as I only received the AMD install message periodically.
