I assume this is a windows 10 (or 11) problem and not a bios problem.

I assume you want a clean installation ie:  you are not keeping files.

Try a cloud factory restore.

Go here and enter your product ID including the 3 characters after the # character
If you have cloud recovery you can restore your system using a 64gb flash.

Many commercial or "business" laptops have an alternate recovery tool different from that cloud.   Is this a business or commercial laptop?

if cloud restore is not available (personal laptop out of warranty for a long time) then you need to boot a USB with the correct versions of windows 10 (or even 11) and do a clean install.

 windows 10 and Windows 11

If you have 10 home do not try to install 10 pro.

let me know if windows 7 or 8

If you have a bitlocker error then you need to replace the hard drive or obtain the recovery key from your grandfathers microsoft account.
