This computer was my aunts that died and I forgot her pin. It was given to me. How do I reset this?

@Madalynjb13, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. To reset the PIN on a Windows computer, you can follow these steps:

Sign-In Options:

  • If you can log in using another method (like a password or biometric login), go to "Settings" > "Accounts" > "Sign-in options" and select "I forgot my PIN." Follow the prompts to reset it.

Password Reset:

  • If you don't have access to any other sign-in options, you might need to reset the password first. This typically involves using the password reset disk created during account setup or answering security questions if set up.

Recovery Tools:

  • In case you can't access the account at all, you might need to perform a system recovery or reset. Boot into recovery mode, often by pressing a specific key such as F8 or F12 during startup, and choose a reset or recovery option.

Microsoft Account:

  • If it's a Microsoft account, you can try resetting the password online at the Microsoft account website.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
