Hi @Dandy1209,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it can be when your scanner icon suddenly disappears, especially when everything was working fine before. You're doing the right thing by asking for help, and I’m here to guide you through restoring it.

Steps to Restore the Missing Scanner Icon on macOS Ventura

1. Check Printer Connection

Make sure your printer is properly connected via USB or Wi-Fi:

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
  • Confirm your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is listed
  • If not, click Add Printer, select your printer, and add it again

2. Use macOS Built-in Driver (AirPrint)

HP no longer provides full-feature drivers for many printers on macOS. Instead, macOS uses AirPrint for basic scanning and printing:

  • Open Preview or Image Capture
  • Select your printer from the list
  • Try scanning directly from these apps

3. HP Utility App (If Available)

Some older macOS versions supported HP Utility, which includes scan options. However, this may not be available on Ventura:

  • Go to Printers & Scanners > Options & Supplies > Utility
  • If the Open Printer Utility button is missing, HP Utility may not be supported
  • You can try downloading HP Easy Start from 123.hp.com to reinstall the basic tools

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
