HP Z420 Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently re-installed windows 10, and noticed that non of my chipset drivers were installed. i managed to install the 'Base System Device' drivers, and tried the SAS Controller but no luck. I don't know where to download these from so could anybody help? My pc is a HP Z420 Workstation with some custom hardware in it.

Thanks.

Thanks.

The drivers I gave you provide support for those two ID's you posted, so what I recommend you do is to manually install the drivers by clicking on each device one at a time.

I'll walk you through installing the driver for the PCI serial port and then follow the same instructions for the SAS controller but browse to sp98397 instead.

To manually install the driver, go to the device manager.  Click on the PCI serial port needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the Intel Management Engine Software driver file.

That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp74499.

Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

Here is a partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file for the PCI serial port which shows driver support for the hardware ID you posted:

[Intel.NTamd64]
%SRL_DeviceDesc% = ComPort, "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E3D&CC_0700"
%SRL_DeviceDesc% = ComPort, "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1CBD&CC_0700"

Hi:

This should be the driver you need for the PCI serial port.

Hello

Installed both and restarted my PC, but they aren't showing up in device manager as installed still.

Hi:

Please post the hardware ID's for the two devices that need drivers.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device:

How to Find Drivers for Unknown Devices in the Device Manager (howtogeek.com)

I would prefer if you copy and paste the text from your device manager rather than posting a screenshot so I don't have to manually type that long string of characters you will find for both of them.

Just highlight the line, select copy and then select paste.

Here is an example of a hardware ID from my Intel wifi card in the device manager:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2723&SUBSYS_008C8086&REV_1A

Hi again.

No problem, here's the hardware IDs for the PCI Serial Port and SAS Controller (there was several so I just copied the first ones).

PCI Serial Port: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1D3D&SUBSYS_1589103C&REV_05

SAS Controller: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1D6B&SUBSYS_1589103C&REV_05
