I had a SMART 30c imminent failure on boot. I have now a new hard drive but the SMART error is still showing.  How can I fix this please?

Does your computer have more than one disk-drive? Count a SSD device as a disk-drive. Count a memory-stick that emulates a disk-drive as being a disk-drive.

If you disconnect the "data" and "power" cables from the new disk-drive, and restart, do you still get the error-message?

Also, trace the SATA cables that connect to the motherboard. There is one for the disk-drive, and maybe one for the CD/DVD drive, but is there another "occupied" socket on the motherboard?

It had a SSD but that was removed.  It looks like it was still reading that and had to uninstall SM Bus and another driver.  Al fine now

It looks like it was still reading that

Weird. The SMART "numbers" are stored inside the SSD (or "spinning" disk-drive).  So, I do not understand how the motherboard must be using ESP (Extra Sensory  Perception) to communicate with the "spirit" of the non-connected device.

Does your computer have an "M.2" memory-card that is configured to emulate a SSD? Could it be failing?
