My intention is to boot from a new 500 GB SSD. This was added to SATA connection 3 and formatted. Shows as "healthy". Used AMEOI Pro to clone operating system from 500 GB HDD. Cloning reported to be successful. The problem is that the new SSD does not appear in the BIOS. Boot setup shows:
HDD Group
- Hitachi (mod#)
CD ROM Group
- HP DVD (mod#)
I could find no way to add the SSD to the boot sequence. What happens if I switch SATA connections with the HDD?

If the cloning was indeed successful, then that is what I would try next. Disconnect the HDD and connect the SSD in its place. If it boots then it is OK and the HDD can be added as a data drive on the SATA 3 port.
I'm not an HP employee.
