Greetings tlhampton,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not an HP employee.

I would guess so.

The next thing they will ask for is the credit/debit card or PayPal account number you used to pay for the service agreement.

Avoid this as if it was a plague.

Regards

Let me start by saying HP WILL NEVER CALL YOU OUT OF THE BLUE.

I just had a call from "hp connected services" stating I had a refund of like $283. I'm so sick of these calls. Here's the number. Beware. I'm not dumb enough to fall for their crap. I actually call them out and chew them out.

That's how it showed up on my cell phone caller id. What I just remembered, which I forgot in my last post, was the guy, heavy Indian accent, asked for me by my first name but not last.

Agreed.

Of course, the scammer needs to get remote access to your computer, to "verify" that you are eligible for the refund.

DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO GET ACCESS (TeamViewer, or other such software).

Probably, the caller-ID information is falsified by their VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) configuration -- usually an unassigned telephone-number, or sometimes with the same area-code (563) and exchange (580) as your number, to make it appear that it is a "local" call that you should pickup, instead of letting it go to your voicemail.

Oh I sometimes answer cause I'm just in a mood to go off on someone who deserves it. I block the number after they hang up on me🤣🤣🤣
