HP desktop MO1-F1120
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This is a new PC that I've had for less than a week.  I often have a web page (Facebook) on the screen when the monitor turns off after 10 minutes of inactivity.  When I wake the monitor up, the page shows instantly, but is frozen.  The only way I can get the page to respond is to click on another tab or app and then click back again.  The problem isn't caused by the sleep mode because the PC hasn't gone to sleep yet.  I have another PC running the same version of Windows and do not have the freeze issue with that one.  The difference is that I'm using a HP U27 4K monitor with the PC with the freezing page.  Is the problem related to the monitor or the PC?

Hi,

I can't say for sure what is happening but are you positive the PC is not sleeping.

Having Facebook open implies you are online. The network connection may need time to reset.

Does this happen with local stuff, like Explorer freezes or you can't navigate Windows Desktop?

Check screensaver settings and power settings to see what is happening.

Thanks for the response.

I ruled out sleep mode as the problem.  I set sleep mode at 5 hours/monitor shut down at 10 minutes.  The problem happens when the monitor wakes up.  It's happened at least 100 times so not a random thing.

I ruled out the mouse and keyboard.  The drivers are current and there are not issues.  The mouse works fine when the monitor wakes up.  I can click on a tab, app or shortcut and it works. If I don't have something on the screen when the monitor wakes up and click on the Chrome (or any) app, the response is instantaneous.

I ruled out the network.  I have another PC with Windows 10 within 5 feet of this one and it responds as expected.

I unplugged and then reinstalled the software for the monitor.

The problem is that if the monitor goes to sleep when a website, app or document is on the screen, I have to click out onto another tab, app, etc. and then back in to get whatever I was working on to respond.  It only takes a second, but it's annoying.  I experimented with waiting.  Sometimes if I wait, the screen will eventually respond in 2 to 5 minutes.

This HP PC is a new model and I was wondering if there could be some incompatibility with Windows 10 that is causing the issue.  If that is a possibility I need to return it before my return window closes.
