Hello good afternoon everyone. My computer has been acting up a lot recently.

None of my apps work like they used to and it’s driving me insane making the computer unusable

I held the power button to see if that could possibly fix the problem and i got an error that says “SECURE BOOT VIOLATION”

INVALID SIGNAUTE DETECTED . CHECK SECURE BOOT POLICY IN SETUP

  • I don’t know how to fix this it says “submit” but after i click on it nothing happens and it brings me back to the same page, please help.image.jpg

(don’t mind the dirty monitor lol)

Hi @JonathanG1811

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the details. I understand the Secure Boot Violation message you are seeing. This occurs when the system detects an invalid signature during startup, and it prevents the computer from loading normally. Let’s go through recommended steps to restore functionality:

Access BIOS Setup

  • Power off the computer completely.
  • Power it back on and immediately press F10 repeatedly until the BIOS Setup opens.

Check Secure Boot Configuration

  • In BIOS, go to Security or Boot Options.
  • Verify if Secure Boot is enabled.
  • If enabled, look for an option such as Restore Factory Keys or Install Default Keys. Select it to re‑apply the correct Secure Boot certificates.

Confirm Boot Mode

  • Under Boot Options, ensure the system is set to UEFI Native (without CSM).
  • Save changes and exit BIOS.

Update BIOS

  • From another device, visit HP’s official support site: HP Software and Driver Downloads
  • Enter your product model and download the latest BIOS update.
  • Apply the update following the on‑screen instructions.

Windows and HP Updates

  • Once the system starts, open the HP App and check for updates.
  • Also run Windows Update to ensure Secure Boot certificates are current.

If the system still does not start with Secure Boot enabled

  • Temporarily disable Secure Boot in BIOS to allow startup.
  • After updates are applied, re‑enable Secure Boot and confirm the system boots normally.

These steps are designed to restore Secure Boot functionality and keep your computer secure.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

I get the same message if I try to start my computer when secure boot is on. I updated my bios to version f.23 and then got the secure boot violation invalid signature detected. Then I tried to update my bios to a newer version (f.24) and that didn't work either. I've gone through all the diagnostics and nothing seems to be wrong with them. I've also tried to reset my keys but that didn't work either.
