The All-in-One Desktop (Model #24-g010, Product # V8N94AA#ABA) "was" a nice desktop computer, which I used for many Zoom Meetings etc. However, after installing the recommended by HP update in June 2021, my computer became useless, and I've been forced to use an old laptop.
Symptom: As soon as I login, the desktop appears, icons load, a second or two later the desktop background remains, however all the icons momentarily disappear, the screen blinks and it's an endless loop from there; and while this is going on, you cannot click on any icon or start button. Again, the computer is useless.
I originally thought it was as corrupt user issue, so I logged into my backup admin user which was OK; however when I shutdown the system automatically updated itself and now the backup admin user suffers from the same issue...
Rather than bore you with details of how I can't really afford a computer repair shop right now or to buy a new computer, I'm wondering if I can, using my laptop, create a "fix" CD of some kind (create / download from a secure sight) OR figure out a way from "task manager" to disable whatever is causing the desktop issue??? Or can I somehow trouble shoot through task manager and fix the issue that way? Or can I somehow reinstall windows without losing all my data files?
Thanks in advance for any assistance you might be able to provide; from a "Not Happy HP User" right now...
Peace ☮ Dennis

@DAyo2 -- can I somehow reinstall windows without losing all my data files?
Yes. Try this:
- power-off the computer
- power-on the computer
- when you see the "spinner" (indicating that Windows is starting to load) hold-down the ON/OFF button for up to 20 seconds, to power-off the computer.
- repeat #2
- repeat #3
- repeat #2
- repeat #3
- repeat #2 -- and do not touch any button. Windows should be "counting" the consecutive "failed" start-ups, recognize that there is a problem, and should show a "recovery menu"
- one of the choices in the menu should be to reinstall Windows while NOT deleting your personal files

Happy New Year and my apologies for the delay, however I did not have a chance to work on this until today...
Your instructions worked (!) and got me to the place where I can run repair, which is running now and is at 28%. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help (!).
As a "thank you" I wanted to pass along the exact steps for my computer; after following your instructions, turning the computer on for the 4th time and it became self-aware there was a problem:
1. HP Screen appeared with "HP" logo & Preparing Automatic Repair" displayed at the bottom.
2. HP Screen appeared with "HP" logo & "Diagnosing your PC" displayed at the bottom.
3. "Restart" & "Advanced Options" appeared at the top of the next screen; I chose "Advanced Options".
4. On the next screen selected "Troubleshoot" from the list of options.
5. On the next screen selected "Rest this PC"
6. Then selected "Keep my files".
NOTE: Originally attempted to reset using the cloud, actually twice, making sure I was connected to my new wireless router in-between; however after going through "your steps" again, I was not allowed to use the cloud (i.e. I'm assuming the boot process had not yet reached the step to connect to the internet). So I was forced to use the local computer for repair...
Hopefully this will actually work and, after over 6 months of not being able to use my desktop / big monitor, "No News" from me will be "Good News" and I can start enjoying my HP Desktop again. Otherwise I will let you know if there are any issues.
Thanks again and Happy 2022 (!) Dennis
