Hello Angggie,

Thank you for posting your concern,

Improving Performance on Your HP Stream 14 Laptop

If your HP Stream 14 laptop is running slowly, there are a number of steps you can take to potentially improve its performance:

  1. Check for Updates:

    • Ensure that your operating system (Windows) and all drivers are up to date. You can do this by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  2. Manage Startup Programs:

    • Sometimes, having too many programs running at startup can slow down your computer. Open the Task Manager by right-clicking on the taskbar and selecting "Task Manager." Go to the Startup tab and disable any programs you don't need to launch at startup.
  3. Perform Disk Cleanup:

    • Use the built-in Disk Cleanup tool to remove temporary files. Search for "Disk Cleanup" in the Start menu, select the drive you want to clean (usually C:), and select the types of files to delete.
  4. Uninstall Unnecessary Programs:

    • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, and uninstall any programs you no longer use or need.
  5. Check for Malware:

    • Run a full scan with Windows Defender or another trusted antivirus program to ensure that malware is not affecting your computer’s performance.
  6. Consider Upgrading Hardware:

    • The HP Stream 14 has limited upgrade options, but if possible, consider upgrading the RAM if you’re frequently running out of memory. This can help with multitasking.
  7. Review Background Processes:

    • While in the Task Manager, check the Processes tab for any applications or background processes that are consuming high CPU or memory resources and close them if they're not needed.
  8. Reset Your PC:

    • As a last resort, consider resetting your PC. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery, and select "Get started" under Reset this PC. This will reinstall Windows and can resolve many performance issues, but be sure to back up your data first.

Following these steps can help improve the performance of your HP Stream 14, making it faster and more responsive. If problems persist, it might be worth consulting with HP Support for further assistance.
