Hi Team

I have had one issue after another since buying my new HP all-in-one desktop in May.

The 2 issues at present (which may be linked, or not)...

1) No sound; have done all the troubleshooters, resets, detecting drivers, downloading/reseting drivers. It says "No Audio Output Device is Installed". This is obviously nonsense, as there WAS an inbuild, working, microphone and speaker (Bang & Olufsen, on the monitor) when I bought it. It just stopped working one day and hasn't been fixed despite my best efforts.

2) The Start menu has stopped working. I have also completed the 4 or 5 step attempted fix for this. Reset computer, reset windows explorer in task manager etc etc. None of these things have worked.

I'm frustrated; I have a really important zoom meeting on Friday that I need both these things working for. My desktop is barely functional without these aspects.

Any help is much appreciated; what's my next steps? When should I contact HP/Microsoft about a faulty computer?

Thanks in advance

Laura

You didn't give me the windows version
so for the audio driver, did you try to install this:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-eliteone-800-g6-24-all-in-one-pc/35865... 1

For the other problem, it's up to you, but rather than trying different manipulations, which may not work, I suggest something quite simple!
For having tested not long ago, for another problem, it was radical
So you can just try to create a new user account!
You will need to put everything back as before, but it may be worth it
So if you want, do it, but don't delete the old account just yet!

It's WIndows 10.

I tried this already; it wasn't simple to create another account but I did it, and it didn't change the start menu issue.

Thanks

so say more, because I risk simply repeating the same things

When you say it doesn't work anymore, nothing happens when you click on it, you know since when an update can be?

the menu can be opened by clicking on it, but also by pressing the windows key, that does not work either?
'It's WIndows 10.'

Neither works - clicking on the start button, or using the windows key.

The search bar also doesn't let me type into it - it's there, and says "type here to search" but will not let me type anything in the box, therefore I cannot tell you the exact windows version via this method. I have checked my receipt from purchase, it says it's "Windows 10 Pro 64"

The link you provided to fix the audio isn't functional. I tried using it today, and also on 2 other days - it is a broken link I think. It gives me this message: "We're sorry HP Customer Support site is temporarily unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please check back later."

Can you provide another solution for the audio issue?

I await your response.

Thanks

Also, in answer to your other questions:

1) Nothing happens when I click on the start button

2) Automatic updates are enabled; all updates are up-to-date.

Thanks

Hi there

FYI I have now fixed the audio issues by using a 3rd party driver update.

The Start menu issues remain.

Thanks
