Hi @Raj414,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP system is experiencing issues with shutting down properly and possibly with the startup sequence. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

Check Power Settings

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
  • Click on Choose what the power buttons do.
  • Ensure that the settings for When I press the power button and When I press the sleep button are set to the desired actions (e.g., Shut down or Sleep).
  • Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable and make sure Turn on fast startup (recommended) is unchecked.

Update Drivers

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Check for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark.
  • Right-click on the device and select Update driver.
  • You may also want to visit the HP support website to download and install the latest drivers for your model.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click on Check for updates and install any available updates.

Run Power Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Select Power and run the troubleshooter.

Check for Software Issues

  • Sometimes third-party software can interfere with the shutdown process. Try performing a clean boot to see if the issue persists:
    • Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
    • Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and then click Disable all.
    • Go to the Startup tab and click on Open Task Manager.
    • Disable all startup items.
    • Restart your computer.

BIOS Update

  • An outdated BIOS can sometimes cause power issues. Visit the HP support website to see if there is a BIOS update available for your model and follow the instructions to update it.

Check for Hardware Issues

  • Ensure all internal components are properly connected.
  • Sometimes a failing power supply or motherboard issue can cause shutdown problems. If you're comfortable, open your computer case and check for any loose connections or obvious signs of damage.

Perform a System Restore

  • If the issue started recently, you can try performing a system restore to a point before the problem started:
    • Press Windows + S and type System Restore, then press Enter.
    • Follow the prompts to choose a restore point and restore your system.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and possibly fix the shutdown issue with your HP system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
