HP Compaq Elite 8300 Ultra-slim PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After the system update of windows 10, this system mistake appeared: logfiles srt srttrail.txt. Computer tries to self repair itself with automatic repair tool but unsuccesfully. After discussing the problem with Microsoft support center, it was agreed that the best way to solve it is to use Microsoft Media Creation Tool and to upgrade the system. But the  affected PC cannot boot from the USB because of the Secure Boot. It was advised to switch the secure boot off in order to boot from the USB and to upgrade the system. How should it be proceeded?

Important note: There was no backup done, so it is crucial that personal files and apps remain on the PC.

Assuming the first point is to make a backup of the data.  Since the PC cannot boot to the installed Windows and the Secure boot is still in place, start tapping the Esc key, twice a second and then press the start button.  The PC should eventually come up with a popup menu and then pick startup from the menu.  Select the Bootable source or Legacy boot from the boot source.  It will only show a bootable source, so have the USB or DVD you made from the Media Creation tool on place.  If it does not show in either Secure boot or Legacy boot items, then the media is not created correctly.

BTW: pick repair from the boot menu of the Media and see if that can fix the boot problem.  If that is not successful, then a different method will be needed to get the data that needs to be backed up.  I like to use a Linux Live CD to do that.  Create the Linux live cd and the boot to that in the same manner as discussed to boot to the Media Creation tool media.  Then you should be able to locate the data and move it to another media IE DVD or external hard drive.

Thank you very much! It worked. The PC was succesfully rebooted from a USB and the sytem was succesfully recovered by a restoration of the sytem by a recorded recovery point. Thanks once again!
