Microsoft Windows 11

System asleep, says it is disabled from too many repeated shutdowns (which is the only way to wake up the system.). No other sign in options available

Hi @ADKRobert,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The message you're seeing usually indicates that Windows has temporarily disabled PIN sign-in after multiple failed sign-in attempts or repeated unexpected shutdowns.

Please try the following:

1. Check for another sign-in method:

  • On the sign-in screen, select Sign-in options (if available).

  • Try signing in using your account password instead of the PIN.

  • If available, select I forgot my PIN and follow the prompts to reset it.

2. Leave the device powered on:

  • Connect the laptop to AC power.

  • Leave it powered on at the sign-in screen for at least 2 hours without shutting down or restarting.

  • After the waiting period, try signing in again.

3. Access Windows Recovery Options:

If no sign-in options are available:

  • Hold the Shift key and select Restart from the power menu.

  • Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options.

  • From there, you can access Startup Repair, System Restore, or other recovery tools.

4. After regaining access:

Since the system is having difficulty waking from sleep, I recommend:

Please let us know your HP model number and whether the device is using a Microsoft account or a local account, and we'll be happy to provide more specific guidance.

Take care and have a great day!

I'm an HP Employee.
