HP Slimline Desktop PC 270
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

While working off a SanDisk, my system locked up and I had to do a hard shutdown. It said i was out of temp. disk space and would do a system clean up. In Settings/Lock Screen I can make adjustments to screen saver and when to shut down, but nothing works. If the system is idle for 10 min. it automatically goes back to the system log in screen. Any help is appreciated.

Greetings!

Welcome to the HP Community. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries. I have reviewed your post and I understand, there's an with the sleep settings.

Don't worry, I'm here to help! To better assist you -

1) Were there any hardware or software changes made?

2) Have you tried any troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue before posting here?

In the meantime, let's try changing the power settings -

Open the Power Options menu in the Control Panel, and then adjust the power settings for computers with Windows 10.

1) In Windows, search for and open Control panel.
2) Make sure the View by setting is set to Small icons, and then click Power Options.
3) Click Change plan settings next to the plan you want to change.
4) On the Change settings for the plan window, choose the display, sleep, and brightness settings you want to use.
5) To change more power settings, click Change advanced power settings.
6) On the Advanced settings tab, select the power plan from the drop-down menu, and then expand the category you want to customize. Expand each setting you want to change, and then choose the values you want to use.
7) When done, click OK, and then click Save changes.
8) Restart the computer.

If the issue still persists, please try updating the computer -

Step 1 Run Windows Updates troubleshooter -

Click on this link to run the troubleshooter.

Step 2 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 3 HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Let me know how that goes.
