System quick test failure ID help

My grandmother received a message on her computer that it needed an update and she clicked on it to start the update. It ran for several hours and she finally turned the computer off before bed that night even though the update was never completed. Her computer now will turn on and gets to the screen to put in her password but won't boot up windows 10, the screen remains blank. I just ran a system quick test and she received a fail in the hard drive short dst check. The failure Id is : 0G82KA-9379BD-GXPQQK-60X703.  please help!

Hi:

The code generated, Hard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure, means the hard drive needs to be replaced and the operating system reinstalled.

If the PC is still under warranty, contact HP technical support and submit a support case under the warranty.

If not, consult the service manual for the specific model AIO PC you have, and you should find the HDD R & R procedures.

After the hard drive is replaced, you can reinstall W10 for free as follows...

To reinstall W10...Use the Media Creation Tool.  Make the 64 bit installation media.

You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, if your PC is not working.

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...

1. Select Download tool now, and select Run.
2. If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
3. On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.

4. Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.

5. Select which media you want to use:
6. USB flash drive.  Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.

You can also save the W10 ISO file instead of making the bootable USB flash drive installer, and burn it to a DVD using the tool I zipped up and attached below if you would rather use a DVD to reinstall W10.

Then you can reinstall the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.
