HI @63184905,

Troubleshooting Slow Performance and System Hanging Issues

If your system is slow and hangs frequently, here are several steps you can take to diagnose and resolve these issues:

  1. Check for Thermal Conditions:
  2. Verify that airflow to the computer is not blocked.
  3. Ensure that chassis fans are connected and working properly. Some fans operate only when needed.
  4. Check if the processor heat sink is installed properly.

  5. Perform Disk Maintenance:

  6. Transfer data from the hard drive to create more space. Microsoft recommends at least 200 MB of free space.
  7. Perform disk defragmentation to consolidate fragmented data on the hard drive, which can help it to work more efficiently.

  8. Update the System:

  9. Make sure that your BIOS and drivers are updated to the latest versions as they can support updates for incompatibilities.

  10. Check for Software Issues:

  11. Use the Windows Task Manager to isolate and terminate processes that are consuming too many resources.
  12. Perform a hard reset by turning off your computer and turning it back on to clear any program errors.
  13. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics to isolate and identify any hardware issues.

  14. Remove Unnecessary Items:

  15. Uninstall any recently added hardware or software that might be causing compatibility issues.
  16. Review and adjust application settings to ensure that no applications are consuming more resources than necessary.

  17. System Restore:

  18. If the issue started recently, consider using System Restore to revert to a previous working state.
