I'm helping someone that is trying to boot into their Safe Mode options. They have a T730 with Windows 7 installed and currently do not have access to an admin account. The account they are able to login into is a limited access user account. Somehow their Admin account visibility became disabled on their login screen.
We are attempting to boot into Safe Mode so that we can see if anything has been disabled. At this time we are unable to access a Safe Mode option screen on restart, either from the Desktop or Login screen
We have tried all the listed methods:
- Shift Keys and Restart
- F4, F5, or F8 keys at Restart
- 3 failed power up attempts
Because the user count is limited we do not have access to the troubleshooting and boot options once logged in and are at the desktop. The cmd prompt is not accessible, similar for the registry editor, user account control, etc. We are limited to basically the power/reboot choices in the Start Menu.
The Login screen does not have login options to choose a different user.
We are able to interrupt the start-up process and enter BIOS, but do not see anything that may be disabling either Safe Mode or Admin account access in there.
We are looking for support on how to enter Recovery/Safe Mode options. We do not have a recovery disk. We do have access to other T730s which have the same/similar configuration, but their Admin accounts are still accessible.
Is there a way to make a recovery disk from one of these other T730s that would work on this one or are they computer dependent?
