Yes, disabling it in the Device Manager got rid of the errors, but now what happens if I want to use wireless in the future?

Ooo...Vista Ultimate !

Microsoft's naming scheme that implied you will never need another laptop. EVER!

We seem to have somewhat similar skills. I actually support a small business (24 computers) and can honestly solve 95% of their problems. But that percentage bites me in the butt 'cause I never want to give up on an issue and just send it in for warranty work. I have to get more efficient with my time...

Hmmm. Good for you! My device manage wouldn't let me disable it.

Sadly, I waste my precious weekends on trying to fix dumb computer stuff, but I have that drive to just not cave in to what doesn’t work.   I am usually successful in fixing hardware and software issues.  But that WHEA was torturous, especially that I just bought this machine in December 2020.  Oh, my Vista Ultimate monstrosity I built in 2008 with no problems ever!   But then, I never do upgrades.    I don’t fix what ain’t broken!     I even have an HP Laserjet 4300N printer from 2004 which I maintain and that thing is still a workhorse!   Runs rings around the garbage printers today.

(On a side note, I am trying to fix an old HP Win XP Pro laptop.  Replaced the hard drive and the PXE-E61 error remains.  It’s some pre-execution error and I probably have to open the unit and dig deeper. ).  Yes, I use Win XP Pro just to run Virtual PC2007, a court reporting DOS program.
